Pink rose ring giveaway

In celebration of the first pink blossoms appearing on my new dwarf nectarine tree, I've decided that today its time for a giveaway!
These pretty little roses always seem to get a gasp of delight from people so I'm sharing the love. One lucky reader will score the pink porcelain rose ring pictured on the left. All you need to do to go into the draw is leave a comment!

The rose is fixed onto an adjustable silver-coated copper ringbase, so it fits a variety of sizes.

Shown here on my finger so you can see
the actual size of the rose.

Good luck everyone!

Final photoshoot before NY

Chatting away to the lovely peeps at Nolcha about what I'm bringing over with me in the new collection and it turns out that I had a couple of hairpieces and bangles which they were pretty keen to take a closer look at - I hadn't featured them that closely/clearly in any of my shoots to date.
So it was a wild last minute shoot we organised - I messaged some of my favourite photographers and stylists to see if anyone was free over the weekend - and then once those were sorted out, the stylist and I started hunting for a model, a hair stylist, and a makeup artist. I hate that sick stressed-out feeling I get when its less than 24 hours til a photoshoot and I am still missing a crucial piece of the puzzle - at this stage, two pieces! However, we finally had everyone assembled, and in the way these things work out sometimes, it was a superawesomefabulous crew!

I have to acknowledge everyone right here and now for pulling this together - I love the results, and it certainly was a big team effort. My beautiful friends Mark and Matt loaned us their rooftop balcony in Prahran for the shoot - it overlooks the city and the gardens and the bay - such a gorgeous spot! Its a big favourite with all their friends so we had plenty of onlookers for the duration of the shoot, which was entertaining for both us and them. I've never shot with so many people just hanging out & watching, but when you're busy and focussed on a goal, turns out these things really don't matter at all. And they are all great people, so that certainly helped I'm sure! We took a fab group shot at the end of the day to include everyone who was still hanging around and its such a great picture, I love it! Such a shame we couldn't get the photographer in the shot as well - they are always behind the lens.

Big thanks to Steve and Shaun, who were the hairstylists & hairpiece fixers for the day. These guys were actually on holidays at the time and didn't have any of their equipment with them, so completely pulled together fabulousness out of thin air! Tessa, the sweetheart stylist, brought along some gorgeous gorgeous dresses. The makeup artist was also called Tessa (I've not been on a shoot with two Tessas before, and I don't think they had either) and her work is absolutely superb.

And the models, as I'm sure you can see, were truly perfect. I've worked with lovely Nina before (you'll recognise her from my Spirit of the Black Dress submission shoot), but this was my first time working with lovely Mia. They were both fab fab fab. Don't you think? And of course Vendula - wow, what a talented photographer she is! It is such a pleasure to work with a team of diverse talented people who all pull together to bring about beautiful results.

Thanks for being awesome, everyone! YAY!

Ten successful applicants have been chosen to have their garments professionally photographed and displayed in Georges on Collins for the duration of the Festival. (Unfortunately I can’t give you a sneak peek at our dress, which I created in collaboration with the very talented Claire Djuve – but I can show you a headshot of our very glamorous Nina who modelled the dress for our submission shots) and thanks also to Monique Gow, MUA & Leila Morrissey, photographer for your fabulous work on the shoot.

New stockist in Double Bay

I'm delighted to announce that Joolz will be available from 1st September at the Vintage Luggage Company, 19 Bay St, Double Bay. In celebration of this, a pre-launch cocktail party will be held on 27th August. Numbers are extremely limited. Please contact me if you would like to be considered for the VIP guest list.

The Vintage Luggage Company specialises in rare and vintage pieces from around the world, embodying perfectly the ethos that beauty, craftsmanship, and quality never go out of style. They are the perfect home for the Joolz collection! I'll hand over to them to explain further:

"150 years ago, beautiful luggage artfully designed and expertly crafted by famous trunk makers of a bygone era were an obligatory requirement for the wealthy upper classes whilst they undertook fantastic journeys to exotic locations and foreign destinations. "Getting there was not as important as how you got there".

The luggage also needed to exude an air suitably reflecting the privileged circumstances of the blue-blooded aristocracy who formed the travelling elite.

French trunk makers Louis Vuitton and Goyard both designed and crafted trunks of unparalleled quality and inimitable style. Expertly and painstakingly constructed by hand from metal, timber, leather and brass, these trunks were highly sought after and favoured by royal families and international high society alike.

In modern times these exquisite and eclectic pieces of luggage are best enjoyed as stunning decorator pieces in the home and office arena.

Steamer wardrobes and courier trunks are perfectly proportioned as beautiful coffee tables, cabin and hat trunks make ideal side tables or blanket boxes at the base of the bed. The Vintage Luggage Company offers an impressive choice of authentic Louis Vuitton,Goyard, Hartmann, Marshall Field and Oshkosh vintage luggage.

Our aim at the Vintage Luggage Company is to enhance the aged beauty of these exceptional trunks without tampering with their originality. Therefore, while the trunks are meticulously cleaned and the brass fixtures fastidiously polished to a lustrous glow, we refrain from adding new "spare parts". This ensures the integrity of each trunk remains intact and its potential as a valuable investment item is unrestricted.

To experience first-hand the grace and character of these precious pieces from the past, please visit our showroom in Double Bay where a unique selection awaits you."

RING RING!

I've been making big chunky rings lately. They are quite an obsession at the moment.

I met Alan Raga, a New Zealand photographer, recently and he's been photographing them beautifully!

One of my favourites is the Cameo Ring, but so far everyone else I've shown them to seems very keen on the Black Rose. Some of these rings are made from recycled earrings from the 80s (remember those big cluster things people used to wear on their ears? I decided they would look much cooler as a ring) and some are from vintage buttons, and some are beads... lots of different bits and pieces, and all great fun to make!
If you are a subscriber to the Joolz Newsletter which I email out every now and then, you will have already received the discounted pre-sale offer on three of these rings, which I popped in for those special people!

Which ring is your favourite? I'm curious to know if everyone's going to like the same ones that I do!

1. Black Rose

2. Smoke 'n' Mirrors

3. Cameo Ring

4. Macrame Ring (made with woven thread)

5. Japanese Black Widow Button Ring

6. Eighties Tread

7. Scallopine

8. BeadsBe

Last night I had the pleasure of being involved in a photoshoot alongside Alan, with model Esh, and makeup artist Tessa. Everyone was lovely, and we are all looking forward to seeing the final images... but I couldn't resist popping up this little sneak peek for you!

The fastest shoot in the history of mankind!

Absolutely brilliant shoot yesterday afternoon.

Photographer Juan Carlos Calixto (Jaycee to us) is a wizard. We set it up, we shot it, it was done. Bang. Just like that!
So thrilled.

We worked on a 'gambling your heart' kind of theme. We were thinking about the idea that at this time of year, you send off a Valentine and its a bit of a gamble, you can't be sure you're going to get the result you hope for. But with a gift of a Queen of Hearts necklace, your luckiness is love is set to win big time!

Now its time to send it off into the world of media and see if anyone picks it up.

Fingys crossed!

3TTC Lookbook ready!

Yip yip yippee!!!
THE LOOKBOOK IS READY TO LAUNCH!!!

So pleased to have finally got it finished. It was sent out to someone to final-draft-triple-double-check, we made some changes to it, and now its ready to float out there into the world.
Ahhh I feel so good about it. It feels like I have been working on this one for months and months. Which, in actual fact, I have been. This one has really taken a long time to put together.

And my blurb as follows:

Third Time’s The Charm
is the third collection from Melbourne design brand Joolz, and it’s simple as black and white to see why this collection is already causing an international buzz. Classically beautiful with contempory styling, compliments are all yours when you step out in these designs.
Gleaming pearls, the only organically sustainable gem on the planet, are teamed with glossy obsidian and onyx. They match prettily with hand-crafted vintage playing card butterflies that flutter perfectly on necklaces and bracelets in a display of delicate symmetry. Beautiful black recycled umbrella silk teamed with pearls becomes a stylish bowtie choker, and the Lady Luck necklace of vintage dice is perfect with hand-cut crystal.
Eye-catching elegance is the key, allowing you to be effortless in making your style statement.
Pre-ordering your preferred card symbol is available for this collection (customisation fee applies). Recycled Las Vegas casino cards & dice are available for customised pieces (from Bellagio, Casino Royale, and Caesars Palace). I also have Crown Casino (Melbourne) playing cards and dice. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing a specially personalised piece.
My vision for this collection was for something that was both grown-up but playful, strong on classic black and white colouring, with eco-friendly components. It has taken me quite a journey to bring this to you, from antique stores in Brisbane to the casinos of Las Vegas.
I absolutely love the results and I certainly hope you do too!

Well, geez I hope people love it enough to buy some pieces. Its been a long haul!
And our shoot:

Wedding jewellery

So I've done a bit more wedding jewellery this month. I'm really looking forward to getting some photos of the brides in the whole outfit on their big day. I've done bridal jewellery before but none of the brides have ever followed up on their promise to forward me some pics afterwards. Fair enough, I do totally understand that I'm a long way down the list of priorities, but these two weddings coming up are going to be very cool ones so I really want some pics! One of the brides is going for a real 50s theme which is going to look awesome, and the other is dressing in a completely non-traditional colour with her groom in a complimentary-coloured safari suit. Hotness. Coolness. Whatever temperature it is, they are going to be great! (Yes, noted that I have an obsession with the temperature atm. That will happen to most sane beings in the month of January in Australia)

Now, a little music for our entertainment:
