RING RING!

I've been making big chunky rings lately. They are quite an obsession at the moment.

I met Alan Raga, a New Zealand photographer, recently and he's been photographing them beautifully!

One of my favourites is the Cameo Ring, but so far everyone else I've shown them to seems very keen on the Black Rose. Some of these rings are made from recycled earrings from the 80s (remember those big cluster things people used to wear on their ears? I decided they would look much cooler as a ring) and some are from vintage buttons, and some are beads... lots of different bits and pieces, and all great fun to make!

Last night I had the pleasure of being involved in a photoshoot alongside Alan, with model Esh, and makeup artist Tessa. Everyone was lovely, and we are all looking forward to seeing the final images... but I couldn't resist popping up this little sneak peek for you!

Brisbane visits, RAFW pretties & other stuff

Spent most of last week in Brisbane, for the launch of Thread'n'Bone on Wed night (it looks fabulous and is full of gorgeous things) and then media chats on Friday, at the lovely Shelter Bar at the Story Bridge Hotel. My sister lives across the road, and its my favourite pub in Brisbane. It was divine to be in a place where people are still enjoying a summery climate, wearing little more than shorts and tshirts. Autumn in Brisbane is lovely. I think I could quite happily spend the winter months in Queensland!
We did a few photoshoots and had a few chats to various fashion editors and magazine types. Got into the Courier Mail on Sat, good shot of lovely model Ellie who spent the day with us, plus a little head shot of me in there too!


Got back to freezingness (aka Victoria) on Sat afternoon and went straight out to Paddy & Lu's farm near the Grampians. Its one of the most beautiful places to wake up in the world. They have a sheep paddock in front of the house with a huge old gumtree, and then its flat landscape until the Grampians rise straight up into the sky. Really beautiful. In fact, I have a photo of that tree standing in the paddock in front of their house - I'll show you what I mean. I just love waking up and walking out to this. It just seems so quintessentially Australian, to me.


Anyway, after a too-fast visit to the farm, back to Melbourne and a whirlwind of jewellery making for RAFW. I found out very late that I was to provide some pieces to accessorise part of the swimwear show happening on Wed (yes, tomorrow!) so had to really knuckle down and get busy. I couriered it all up there last night. Can't wait to see some shots - hopefully tomorrow! I'm following about a million twitterers who are tweeting from RAFW so I'm sure someone will post some pics. Hopefully some shots will show up on Fashionising too. I'll whip them up here as soon as any come to light. Its been a very busy & exciting week so far and looks set to continue!

Absolutely brilliant shoot yesterday afternoon.

Photographer Juan Carlos Calixto (Jaycee to us) is a wizard. We set it up, we shot it, it was done. Bang. Just like that!
So thrilled.

We worked on a 'gambling your heart' kind of theme. We were thinking about the idea that at this time of year, you send off a Valentine and its a bit of a gamble, you can't be sure you're going to get the result you hope for. But with a gift of a Queen of Hearts necklace, your luckiness is love is set to win big time!

Now its time to send it off into the world of media and see if anyone picks it up.

So pleased to have finally got it finished. It was sent out to someone to final-draft-triple-double-check, we made some changes to it, and now its ready to float out there into the world.
Ahhh I feel so good about it. It feels like I have been working on this one for months and months. Which, in actual fact, I have been. This one has really taken a long time to put together.

Wedding jewellery

So I've done a bit more wedding jewellery this month. I'm really looking forward to getting some photos of the brides in the whole outfit on their big day. I've done bridal jewellery before but none of the brides have ever followed up on their promise to forward me some pics afterwards. Fair enough, I do totally understand that I'm a long way down the list of priorities, but these two weddings coming up are going to be very cool ones so I really want some pics! One of the brides is going for a real 50s theme which is going to look awesome, and the other is dressing in a completely non-traditional colour with her groom in a complimentary-coloured safari suit. Hotness. Coolness. Whatever temperature it is, they are going to be great! (Yes, noted that I have an obsession with the temperature atm. That will happen to most sane beings in the month of January in Australia)
