Sailing World Cup Ladies Day Luncheon & Fashion Show

I'm just back in the office after a lovely afternoon down at Sandringham Yacht Club. Today was their fundraiser for ovarian cancer research, a ladies luncheon and fashion show. I had donated a necklace and earrings as one of the raffle prizes, and also had some accessories in the fashion show.

It was a lovely day, the girls at the yacht club did a fine job. One of my favourite stylists, Tessa, was working busily behind the scenes, making sure all the fashion was organised and ensuring the models looked perfect before they strutted down the catwalk - today's catwalk was a long carpet of faux grass. It worked very well for the event! And another of my favourite stylists was MC - Amber Renee did a great job, even though (as she told us early on) she was dealing with a rotten cold.

The fashion looked great, the models were lovely, makeup perfect (done by one Megan Kirkup, who I've had the pleasure of working with several times), and although our view of the bay was mainly wet wild n windy, still a very lovely spot to spend an afternoon.

I have some truly dreadful photos from the phone, but am hoping that I may be able to share some with you once they are forwarded on to me from the organisers, or some of the more professional shots that were taken by others who were there. I promise you don't really want to see my shots from today.

See? Not really worthwhile, is it? We'll just have to wait and I'll update this post once some decent photos become available!

MSFW 2010 Designer Series 1 - my favourite things

Loved these leggings at Therese Rawsthorne
MSFW kicked off the Designer Series runway shows last night, so out into the cold and rain I went to Melbourne Town Hall to check out what's coming up for some of our Aussie designers for Spring/Summer 2010/2011.

I had scored a front row seat to watch proceedings, which is great for getting a close look at the hair & makeup and accessories as well as the clothes - perfect for a girl who's seriously into accessories and styling!

Here are my faves from the night, with thanks to Fashionising for the images.

Oversized sweater dress from Gary Bigeni. Perfect for those of us celebrating a Spring that hasn't quite 'sprung' as yet.
Blingin cats-eye sunglasses from Alice Euphemia
Chunky resin collars from Alice Euphemia
Wild boots - Alice Euphemia
Super-pretty sheer lace frock from Flannel. Such a vintage feel!

Loved the patterning, colour and draping in this outfit from Dhini

Fab dress from Alistair Trung.

Great fringed jacket from Flannel.

The stand-out accessories for the entire show came from Alistair Trung.

Loved this top from Alistair Trung too.

This romper from Kuwaii was cool.
Great feather shawl collar & dress from Alistair Trung.
Lovely Lucy looked spectacular in the sculpted padding of Arnsdorf.

BEAUTIFUL dress from Lui Hon
I NEED this capelet from Lui Hon!
Thought this coat from MaterialByProduct, modelled by Face of MSFW Lucy McIntosh, had really great detailing.

Fashion+Aid

Fashion+Aid was a glamorous fundraiser for the Starlight Children's Foundation, a big fashion & entertainment evening at the Palladium Ballroom in Crown Casino on Saturday night. The sold-out event included 1000 guests enjoyed vying for loads of fabulous auction items and watching the entertainment.
The fabulous theatrical fashion show had a "Four Seasons In One Day" theme, with many of Australia's well-known designers getting involved, including JASONGRECH, Ed Hardy, Bardot, mesop, AprilMarie Swimwear, Travisty and BleeckerSt sashaying down the catwalk against a backdrop of multi-dimensional theatrical effects.
Hosted by Matthew Newton, the star of Underbelly 2, with a special appearance by Millie, the face of iSelect ("You'd have to be puffin' muffins" is my fave of her quotes), plus performances by TV Rocks DJ Grant Smillie and Melbourne Demon and It Takes Two performer Russell Robertson, accompanied by Phil Ceberano. Jason Coleman from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and his Ministry of Dance troupe certainly caused some excitement too.
I had the chance to watch some of the performance rehearsals during the day and was very impressed by choreographer Pete, all the dancers, singers, and models. Everyone worked hard to create a fabulous show, and did a wonderful job.
The crew from FTV were there to capture the event, I'm really looking forward to seeing how it looked from the front as of course I was backstage putting joolz onto models so didn't get to see anything of the final show from an audience viewpoint.

Miss Green's Wardrobe has arrived

Tonight will be the culmination of weeks, months, yes AGES of meetings, plans, changed plans, rehearsals, styling, plans and yes, a few more changes. Miss Green's Wardrobe is hosting her first fashion show, as an added extra for her usual guests who come together for a high-end fashion exchange program which runs roughly every three months or so. Lads & ladies sip champagne, nibble on little treats, and exchange their garments for a certain value which they can then use to spend on other garments that have been thrown into the mix. The rules simply are that they must be high-end fashion pieces, and that they are either brand new (one of those things that you bought and then changed your mind about when you got it into the cold hard light of day) or only very gently worn.

From her website: "The concept of Miss Green’s Wardrobe is simple! For just the price of a ticket, you are invited to bring in between 1-5 gently worn, unwanted designer fashion items, and swap it for some fresh and fabulous wardrobe pieces. The idea being that having a great wardrobe doesn’t have to cost the earth."

The event this evening will be enhanced by a fashion show, including yours truly doing the jewellery, Melissa shoes, and Farage clothing, plus some handbags from Apple&Bee. Tickets have been sold for both the swapper event, and the fashion event, so there will be people there keen on both, or just to come and watch the show. Its going to be a busy day, so I must press on, but I should have pictures to post about it all tomorrow.
